Tanzania Accommodation | Moshi / Kilimanjaro
Kambi Ya Tembo-West Kilimanjaro
Sinya, a private concession of about 600 square km, bordering Kenya at Amboseli National Park, offers spectacular landscapes with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Dominion Longido and Ol
Doinyo Orok. A unique nature and cultural experience. One of the few areas in Africa where huge Elephant Bulls, more than 50 years old, carrying tusks of considerable size, are regularly seen. Most of them have been monitored by Cynthia Moss in Amboseli for more than 25 years and form one of the healthiest and most balanced Elephant populations of the whole African Continent. |

Situated along a country road lined with sunflowers, banana plantations and cornfields, overshadowed by Kilimanjaro, this charming retreat lies about 3 km from Marangu village, 7 km from the Marangu Gate to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, 40 km from Moshi and 70 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport. It opened in 1932 as a coffee farm and has been owned and managed by the same family ever since, ensuring that the hands-on service is personalized and thoughtful. |

Kibo Hotel-Marangu
Converted from an early-20th-century German country mansion, this faded stalwart of the Kilimanjaro hotel scene is situated on the outskirts of Marangu village, 5 km from the eponymous entrance gate to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, 40 km from Moshi and 70 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport. At an elevation of 4,900 ft, the Kibo Hotel is named after the dormant crater at the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro, and it was once the most popular base for climbing Africa's highest mountain, as attested to by a sign proudly commemorating a visit by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter in 1988. |
The main two-story building, though somewhat faded, is a fine example of German colonial architecture. It possesses a certain rustic charm with its multiple arches, wide shaded balconies and walls draped in flowering bougainvilleas.

Keys Hotel & Annex-Moshi
With a main building situated a few hundred meters north of central Moshi and a 30-minute drive south of the Marangu entrance gate to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, this family-run hotel has been among the most consistently popular midrange options in the Kilimanjaro region since it opened in 1990. It is now supplemented by a larger annex on Mbokomu Road about 2 km from the town center along the Marangu Road. In addition to offering comfortable and affordable accommodation, Keys has an excellent reputation for organizing reliable and relatively affordable Kilimanjaro climbs. |
The two-story building at the main hotel is vaguely reminiscent of an English country inn, with its whitewashed exterior, jalousies and terra-cotta tile roof. The public areas, located on the ground floor, include a reception desk adorned with a large mural of Kilimanjaro, an adjacent craft shop, and a travel desk that arranges Kilimanjaro climbs, safaris and other local excursions.
